Edward Ruiz, PGA
Director of GolfEd comes from the New York Metropolitan area where he served as the General Manger/Head Golf Professional at Oak Hills Park in Norwalk, CT. While at Oak Hills Park, Ed was awarded the Metropolitan PGA Merchandiser of the Year (Public) in 2018 and was also responsible for executing many notable improvements to the course and grounds.
An accomplished player starting at age ten learning the finer points of the game under the tutelage of renowned instructor, Jim Mclean, inspired Ed to compete and eventually turn professional. His passion for playing, teaching and facility management has been the driving force behind Ed’s decision to make golf his career.
His teaching philosophy derives from years of instructing players of all skill levels and working alongside many well-known instructors. An emphasis on fundamentals, proper sequencing, rhythm, tempo and timing has vaulted many of his students to new levels by imparting a repeating action that promotes centeredness of contact. Ed is result orientated and consistent in his teaching philosophies.
An extensive background in managing various types of golf facilities. Ed brings a detail-oriented management approach that always delivers customers a high-end experience. He also knows that strategically executed capitalization upgrades, specifically targeting areas that need improvement, can reinvigorate any facility.
As a public course retailer and operator. Ed has learned to be practical, organized and decision oriented. Beyond identifying and studying the industry market. Ed’s creativity, hard work and dedication to growing the game have been the cornerstone of his success.
